Obama’s Afghan-Pak Syndrome
Another good talk by Tariq Ali:

I particularly liked the fact that he pointed out double standards held against Pakistan. Last month the media was reflecting on and remembering the terrible terrorist events that took place in Mumbai last year. I certainly think those were horrible attacks against the innocent people of Mumbai but thought that it was strange how the media gave them so much importance and coverage while the people of Pakistan have suffered much worse atrocities at the hands of terrorists but no one really bothers to “reflect” on them. It’s as if the Pakistanis are just expected to suffer and die from terrorist attacks. I think that Pakistanis has never suffered so much in their entire history as they are now yet instead of sympathy they get blamed for not doing enough. Drone attacks, suicide bombs, shootings, and attacks have become a regular part of life while a continuous war goes on in the western parts of the country. There are probably not too many other places in the world that are as bad as Pakistan at the moment but the media definitely has a double standard when it comes to them.
